4th of July planning meeting | Parade details
Jun 30 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Parents!

 Thank you for
signing up to be a part of this year’s 4th of July parade!!!!  Here are
the details for the parade:

2018 WESTCHESTER
Fourth of July Parade

WEDNESDAY JULY 4TH

• 10:00 am: We will
get our assigned meeting place and Jennifer will send

email and/or Text
the group to tell them where to meet. It will most likely

be near the
Westchester Library.

• Parade start time
11am: Everyone needs to be at our meeting place by

10:45am.

• Parade end time:
12:30pm (but we will end when we are at the end of the

parade)

Parking: There is
no designating parking spaces for participants. Is it only important

to keep in mind how
far you want to walk to the parade meeting place near

Westchester Library
and after the end of the parade (80th and Loyola Blvd). We do

have a group of
Kentwood families who will be at 83rd and Loyola. ) and then walk to

the Kentwood This
way at the end of the parade you do not have to walk far to your

car.

Attire/Costume: RED
Kentwood Gear. We are keeping this as easy as possible and

are asking that all
students wear a RED Kentwood T-shirt. Adults can simply wear

RED. If you would
like a RED Kentwood shirt – we will be selling them on Saturday

from 10am to 12
noon.

Our Parade entry is
as follows:

Kentwood Elementary
representing Detroit, Michigan and using an “Auto” theme.

2019 Jeep Wrangler
will be the center point // The Vehicle will be driven by Jennifer.

Mr. Khan will be
standing in the Jeep. We will be playing Mo-Town music from the

Jeep with our
Speakers. Students and families will be marching/walking around the

Jeep and waving.
Some students will be waving Detroit flags, some will be passing

out Mattel cars,
and we will have a couple in the front holding the banner. We also

have a few cars for
students to “wear”. We will have plenty of time to make these

decisions when we
meet by 11am on Wednesday.

Recommendations:

Parents with
younger children should bring strollers, wagons, etc. The first section of

the parade is up a
hill and younger children tend to want to get in a wagon for the back

half of the parade.
We will be waiting at our meeting spot from 11am until it is our turn

to walk…keep that
in mind. We might want to bring stuff for the kids to do. Bring

Water!! We will
also have a wagon full of water.

Parade start time 11am.  Kentwood will be #45 in the parade.  This means we may not start marching until 12pm. It would be

great to have everyone marching to our area by 11:30am so we can all coordinate who will do what.

be easy to find with our RED Kentwood shirts and Red Jeep.
