Westchester 4th of July Parade

July 4, 2019 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Manchester & Loyola Blvd

We are very excited to again be included in this year’s Westchester 4th of July parade!!  It is one of the best days of the year in Westchester! For those of you remember last year’s parade — it was quick, easy, and a TON of fun!!!  Please RSVP if you plan to join us!! We would like at least 30 families to sign up and show our neighborhood how many families have chosen Kentwood Elementary!

Here is how it will all work:  We will be working on the details of our entry in the next couple of months and will keep the group of you who RSVP for this invite posted on what to wear (Kentwood Red), what our theme is, etc.

Here is the sequence of events:

• 10:00 am: We will get our assigned meeting place and
Jennifer will send an email and/or Text the group to tell them where to meet. It
will most likely
be near the Westchester Library on Manchester.  They shut down Manchester for the duration of the parade.

• 11am:  Parade start time 11am, depending on where we are in the parade, families can join us right before we come down the street and we will keep everyone updated via text and email.  Last year it was between 11:30am – 11:45am and we are trying to get the same time slot.

• 12:30pm:  Parade end time at 12:30pm.

There are no designated parking spaces for
participants. Is it only important
to keep in mind how far you want to walk to the parade
meeting place near
Westchester Library and after the end of the parade (80th
and Loyola Blvd).

Super easy…RED Kentwood Gear. All students wear a RED Kentwood T-shirt.
Adults can simply wear
RED. If you would like a RED Kentwood shirt – we will be
selling them on that day as well! (Or make sure you buy one before school is out for the summer!)  If anything changes, we will keep the group who RSVPs updated!  (For example,

Day of the event Recommendations:

Parents with younger children should bring strollers,
wagons, etc. The first section of the parade is up a hill and younger children tend to want to
get in a wagon for the back
half of the parade. We will be waiting at our meeting spot
from 11am until it is our turn to go down Loyola Blvd.

Water!! We will also have a wagon full of water.
